Random fact:
His wrestling style has been compared to that of the late Chris Benoit, earning him the nickname of Pegasus Kid II in Japan.

Quickly becoming a prominent figure in the Japanese pro wrestling market, Prince Devitt is a competitor with a pure passion for the business. After making his debut for New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2006, Devitt has managed to gain five title runs compromising of Tag Team and Singles championships.

With a technical moveset under his name, Devitt has managed to defeat some of the best competitors in the business, including names such as Davey Richards and Naomichi Marufuji. In the annual Tokyo Sports Grand Prix 2010, Devitt was awarded the ‘Best Bout’ trophy following his stunning October match which saw him team up with Ryusuke Taguchi to take on Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi.

In May last year, Devitt entered NJPW’s ‘Best of the Juniors’ tournament and managed to eventually win the tournament. This gave him a shot against Marufuji for the IGWP Junior Heavyweight Title, which Devitt won after pinning the Japanese icon. Since June 2010, the title has been in his possession and has been defended succesfully four times, showing that Devitt will fight hard to keep the belt around his waist.

The talents of Devitt knows no bounds, and he is quickly becoming a rising star in Japan. Whether he will take his skills to the US and go far in companies like TNA, WWE or ROH, no-one knows. But for now, Devitt looks comfortable where he is, and will continue to fight his way to the top in NJPW.

Random fact: Cole was trained in the CZW academy, a promotion where he made his mark.

With just over two years experience under his belt, Adam Cole has done big things to Independent wrestling. Not only has he picked up an array of titles from different companies, but Cole is a highly technical wrestler who is terrifically gifted at the game.

When Cole made his debut in CZW, he got heads turning following the ‘climbing of the ladder’ he undertook within the promotion. This saw him begin by making a team with Tyler Veritas, before fighting with the likes of Sabian and Ruckus, two of CZW’s most valued workers. In fact, on May 8, 2010, Cole managed to defeat the two aforementioned wrestlers in a triple threat match, giving him his first ever title- the CZW World Junior Heavyweight Championship- in the company.

Since this time, federations across the US have wanted him, with recent stints in Chikara and Evolve. But August last year saw Cole get the break he deserved, as he signed a contract with Ring of Honor, the third best company in the US, and joined a team with Kyle O’Reilly. Since then, the tandem have entertained world wrestling fans globally, and it seems that this could be the beginning of a promising future for Cole.

Career Highlight: His bout against Bryan Danielson in 2008 for Triple X Wrestling was shortlisted for independent wrestling’s ‘Match of the Year.’
Random fact: Zack is only 23 years old, yet has been training to become a wrestler since he was 14.

British wrestling is nothing as popular as it’s American counterpart, but the Independent circuit in the Queen’s homeland is bursting at the seams with talent. Perhaps one of the fastest rising stars in the UK is Zack Sabre, Jr., a technical wrestler whose moveset is so varied, he makes the submission moves you see on TV look like painless clinches.

Zack shot to fame most noticeably in 2008, where he butted heads with Bryan Danielson in the Coventry-based company known as Triple X Wrestling. The two put on a great bout, and although Sabre, Jr. didn’t manage to get the victory, the bout made its way into the history books as one of the best matches of the year.

As well as working for Triple X Wrestling, Zack has made his mark all over the country. He has done much more than just show his face in over ten British companies, including the likes of IPW:UK and FWA. Through this, he has picked up some of the most elusive titles in the industry, including the NWA UK Junior Heavyweight Title, which he has held for over an impressive five years.

Although Zack’s name isn’t so well-known, big things are certainly expected of him. He’s already taken his talents over the borders to Germany, and his high-risk style and plethora of submission holds could soon be gracing the States. Keep your eyes peeled for this one!

Winning the CZW Iron Man Championship
Random fact:
On his CZW debut in 2008, Callihan raised heads after winning the inaguaral Chri$ Ca$h Memorial Battle Royale.

“The New Horror” Sami Callihan has been a key performer in CZW ever since he made his debut there in 2008. But although his time in the popular ultraviolent company is perhaps what has got him so well noticed, Callihan has also performed around the independent circuit, including stints in Ring of Honor and Evolve.

It’s no secret why Callihan is so well used amongst the circuit, because he looks different to most wrestlers. “The New Horror” adopts a vicious gimmick which means he pulls no prisoners, and has featured in some great Ultraviolent contests against the likes of John Dahmer and Egotistico Fantastico. But he’s not just about being hardcore, as he has shown during contests for ROH and Evolve, one of which where he defeated independent wrestling specialist Arik Cannon.

With a dangerous move as his finisher (the skull crushing Headlock Driver) and a number of titles obtained in his four year career so far, it is no surprise that Sami Callihan is climbing his way up the ladder. With hints that he could become a big feature in Ring of Honor sometime soon, it seems that the only way is up for “The New Horror” and his manic ways.

PWG; AAA
Career Highlight: Winning the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship with Alex Koslov
Random fact: Christina was given try-outs with TNA over the summer, even getting as far as competing in a dark match for the iMPACT! tapings.

Christina Von Eerie is walking proof that women’s wrestling isn’t dead. Although the complete opposite of a stereotypical WWE Diva or even a TNA Knockout, Christina brings an alternative style not only to her attire, but also to her ring presence. With jet black spiky hair and dark, bold clothing, Von Eerie is always one to stand out in a crowd.

And that she has done ever since entering the wrestling scene. After performing in a number of small promotions, Von Eerie was quickly snapped up by Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. There, Christina showed that she could fight not only other women, but men too, competing in intergender matches against the likes of Joey Ryan and Brandon Bonham. The Mexican promotion Asistencia Asesoría y Administración was her next port of call, and that saw Von Eerie enchant the Mexican audience with her strong ring presence. It was no surprise then that in July 2010, she became holder of the company’s Mixed Tag Team championship with Alex Koslov.

Since that time, Von Eerie still makes regular appearances for PWG and AAA, but her face is also being recognised on the independent circuit. She has had short stints in both Dragon Gate USA and NWA Championship Wrestling, bringing in a wealth of publicity. And with a dark match on a TNA iMPACT! taping under her belt, we might be seeing Christina’s face representing the Knockouts division sometime soon.

Wrestler Name: Johnny Gargano

Weight: 199lbs
Finishing Move/s: Crosston Crab (Cross-legged Boston Crab); Hurts Donut (Full Nelson lifted into a Twisting Inverted STO)
Signature Moves: Swinging Reverse STO; Superkick; Baby Ace Crusher (Cutter to a kneeling opponent); Slingshot Spear; Double Knee Backbreaker
Wrestling Style: Technical

Current Promition/s:
AIW, PWO, Chikara, Dragon Gate USA, Evolve
Career Highlight: Winning the then-vacant AIW Absolute Championship
Random fact: He has made an appearance in WWE before as a security guard on NXT.

The charismatic, entertaining character of Johnny Gargano screams one thing- talent. Not only can Gargano talk the talk, but he is more than capable to walk the walk with his extensive knowledge of technical moves and holds.
Gargano began his career in 2005, and since then he has been tearing up the scene. Currently performing for five of independent wrestling’s best companies, Gargano is a welcome addition to any roster, and that’s mainly thanks to his style and ability to gain crowd heat from his brash attitude on a microphone.

Gargano has managed to capture several titles in his short career so far, and even managed to gain victory in Chikara’s infamous Countdown Showdown tournament, where he then went on to challenge unsuccessfully for the Young Lions cup.

A long elusive career looks in site for Gargano, and he certainly looks TNA/ WWE material. With backstage stints in both companies, including a dark match against Jay Lethal on TNA iMPACT! a few months back, it’s only a matter of time before Gargano’s face becomes famous worldwide.
